Most often, a firm’s issues revolve around people and their performance: people who don’t do what they are supposed to do, or who do what they are not supposed to do. Typically, more senior-level people in a firm wield more influence and are more visible, so issues revolving around principals draw more attention and are also more difficult to confront.

A well facilitated principals’ retreat constructively and supportively addresses “people issues” with the intent of coalescing a strong leadership team—of an entire firm or of a business unit within a firm—with introspective analysis and candid conversations resulting in strong buy-in to resolutions.
